Living in the midst of the pandemic doesn’t mean you can’t be productive or make yourself useful. You still can do a lot for yourself (and society)–thru the simple act of saving. Here’s a quick rundown of the things that you can save or save on- and find out how you can make a difference.
1. Save money
Not every day has to be Food delivery day. Try to make things on your own, whether cooking or baking and realize how much you can save, especially when you’re quarantined with a big number of people. You can also save on repairs by doing things yourself- like fixing the roof or repainting those worn out walls or save on pet grooming by just buying your own trimmer.
2. Save energy
Nowadays- you find yourself at home most of the time- but this isn’t a vacation. There would be times when you will have to get up on your feet- and step away from your screens (including your mobile phones!) Unplug your chargers, aircon, or fans, then step outside and do something else that does not require electricity like planting and skipping rope!
3. Important relationships
Don’t just wait for the day to pass you by before checking in on your relative or your friend. Connect and reconnect with the people who mean a lot to you and assure them that you’ll always be there for them no matter what.
4. The environment
If you have to run errands, limit your movements to nearby places which won’t require you to use a car or any allowable public transport. Remember that one benefit observed by many during the lockdown: clearer skies (because of less pollution). Also, save on water when you can! Remember with H2O, there’s no such thing as unlimited supply!
5. Save a life
It has been said over and over again- but still, hasn’t been said enough. Save a life- may it be yours, a loved one’s or a stranger’s. Use alcohol and wash your hands; wear a face mask and face shield; and, practice social distancing. Do your part in battling the pandemic. Let’s all fight to survive!
