Top 5 things Filipino celebrities are doing right now (given the pandemic)

With many television networks and movie studios halting production amid COVID-19, celebrities have engaged in activities–designed to either make money, make people entertained or simply, make a difference. Here’s a list of the Top 5 things Filipino celebrities are doing right now (given the pandemic).

1) Launch or enhance their own YouTube Channel

The Sharon Cuneta Show: IT'S FINALLY HERE! - YouTube

There’s Sharon Cuneta of the Sharon Cuneta Network, Vice Ganda of the Vice Ganda Network, Heart Evangelista’s Love Marie Escudero and very soon, Ryza Cenon’s “The Real Ryza Cenon”.

2) Make their restaurant businesses survive

Just ask Kris Bernal whose Korean BBQ restaurant now has Gogimart–which delivers Korean meals straight to your doorstep. Or Carla Abellana who had to uproot her Holy Smokes restaurant from Poblacion in Makati to Katipunan in Q.C. where rent is cheaper. Some celebs have also ventured to selling their dishes online. Just like Ai-Ai de las Alas and Marvin Agustin who sells breads and pastries; Sarah Lahbati who sells Swiss Lasagna and Lotlot de leon who sells pork liempo and other ready to cook meals.

3) Sign up new endorsement deals

Take for instance Vice Ganda who recently signed up as the face of Bayer’s Saridon or Piolo Pascual who signed up to be the face of BDO; Sarah Geronimo as the newest endorser of Fern-C, Philippine Statistics Authority for its Census 2020 project and Meralco- together with hubby Matteo Guidicelli.

4) Continue to help the country face and fight the pandemic

Do we need to mention Angel Locsin’s much talked about on the ground drive to help front liners? Or Vice Ganda who continues to pay it forward. After landing his endorsement with Saridon, he has pledged a donation of PPEs, face masks, face shields and alcohol to the Philippine Red Cross amounting to PHP1 Million. After the lifting of MECQ, Gretchen Ho will be giving away 50 bikes to people who find the daily commute to and from their jobs a struggle due to the pause in public transport.

5) Continue to entertain

To keep our minds off the pandemic, celebrities have turned to doing concerts online (both free and paid): Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Regine Velasquez, Catriona Gray, Julia Montes, Angeline Quinto, were among those who have done this. This August, one of the more anticipated concerts is 4th Impact’s Dream Concert. And then there are those who are not really of celeb status who are trying to make do with the current online platform to entertain. Like the talents of Comedy Manila who do online shows for a reasonable price!
