What will the world be without instant noodles? Such a world is hard to imagine specially with how busy people have become- whether it’s catching up with work (remotely or physically in the office), online class or what have you. Convenient and sumptuous, I’ve decided to round out the top five instant noodles that have comforted me (and I hope that it also does the same for you).
1. Nissin Cup Noodles
The Bulalo, Batchoy and Beef Flavors, with a soupy base are a hit with me. And if you get the imported cups, you will discover bits and pieces of real corn or shrimp etc. infused in the noodles. Their pancit-canton-like variant, their Spicy Chicken and Spicy Beef also don’t scrimp on flavor. What I love about Nissin Cups are they are sooooo easy to prep. No need for scissors and mess! Just add hot water, and after a few minutes, you’ve got a delicious snack.
2. Lucky Me! Pancit Canton
Original and the Kalamansi Flavor has always been the go-to snack of college students who are looking for a delicious snack that can easily be squeezed between schedules. What i don’t like, though, is how I have to empty all individual packets of seasonings and spices before I get to the main event. But hey, some people find it to be worth it. Who am I to complain?
3. Indomie
This is Indonesia’s front-runner when it comes to the instant-noodle scene here in the Philippines. They started in the ’70s but only gained popularity with the introduction of the Mi Goreng variant. Noodle lovers around the world can’t get enough of Indomie’s Mi Goreng for its savory-sweet flavor with just the right kind of heat (and in case you’re not a fan of heat, you can always cut back on the chili when it’s time to mix them with the noodles).
4. Samyang
Remember the time when this noodle pack was all the craze on social media? Because of its heat and spice that can tear off your tongues and brains at the same time- that led to the Samyang challenge. Well, long after the fad was over, Samyang remains iconic–because of its various flavors that have different spicy levels.
5. Maggie Curry
Made in Malaysia, Maggi 2 Minute Curry Noodles are quick, convenient and delicious. The first time I discovered this was when my friends and I went to Malaysia, and aside from some chocolate brands, their relatives clamored for Maggi Kari noodles for pasalubong, available online and some Asian groceries, Maggie Kari bursts with strong herbs and spices- and of, course, hot curry.
