As more people have come to adjust to living their lives within the confines of their homes, many have also take up a hobby which they say is both calming and great for the environment. And for those who have taken up planting, here are five plants that are easy to care for at home (especially if it’s your first time). And the great thing is, they’re all available in the Philippines!
1. Aloe Vera Plant
Aloe vera is best known to treat cuts and burns, but has also been making waves in the skincare department. Aloe Vera plant is one of easiest plants to maintain? It loves indirect sunlight and may need watering as little as every two weeks. To avoid root rot, allow the soil to dry at least 1 to 2 inches deep between waterings.
2. Snake Plant
Snake Plant is a favorite because of its adaptability to a wide range of growing conditions. Most Snake Plant varieties have stiff, upright and sword-like leaves, which makes it ideal for modern and contemporary interior designs. It is also known as mother-in-law’s tongue (I wonder why).
3. Spider Plant
Spider plant is among the easiest to grow off all hanging or trailing houseplants. Although Spider plants will grow under most conditions, these fast-growing plant prefers bright light and tend towards scorching in direct sunlight.
4. Succulents
Succulents are plants with parts that are thickened, fleshy, and stuffy, usually to retain water in dry climates or soil conditions. Overwatering can kill your succulent, so make sure you let the soil dry between waterings.
5. ZZ Plant
The Zamioculcas Zamiifolia (ZZ) is drought tolerant and grows fine with low levels of light. ZZ plant is an air purifier–removing copious amounts of toxins such as xylene, toluene, and benzene from the air.
